Taking on-surface polymerization to the next level

By designing monomer building blocks with programmed reactivity we could, for the first time, achieve hierarchical growth that can further be directed by corrugated surfaces. Our new method allows the creation of nanostructures with improved quality and complexity. The work - carried out in our established collaboration with the team of Leonhard Grill - has been published in Nature Chemistry.
