Smart sensing with smartphones

Using our photoprogrammable dynamic covalent polymer network materials, we were able to detect amines by simply decoding bar-code patterns with a common smartphone app. Our new devices are sensitive and low-cost with great potential for the consumer to monitor food quality among others. The work has been carried out in collaboration with former group member Petr Kovaricek, now at the Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry in Prague (link), and will be published in an upcoming special issue of the Journal of Polymer Science.
