Smart amine sensing probes

After discovering that nucleophiles induce a fast decoloration reaction of ring-closed diarylethenes, the team of Sebastian, Aurelio, and Virginia implemented enhanced reactivity, catalytic amplification, amine-thiol discrimination, and fluorescence read-out to improve their sensing method significantly with regard to both sensitivity and selectivity. Their comprehensive work will appear in an upcoming issue of the Journal of the American Chemical Society – congratulations!
